Right?

Why did the inventors of our language spell "right" the direction the same as "right" the synonym for correct? It makes directions very confusing. "Turn left up here." "Left, right?" "Right." "Right?" "No, left." "Right." "Arrgh!" "Left you idiot!" "Right!" See, it makes it very confusing.
